Since 1999, the African American Alliance for Homeownership (AAAH) has been successful in stimulating home buying activities and resources through our innovative programs, such as the Homebuyer Coaching Project and the IDA Program (savings match fund).

The Portland Housing Bureau (PHB) directly offers and indirectly sponsors programs to help individuals buy new homes or repair their current homes. PHB also offers free monthly home ownership workshops, which cover the steps to buying a home and the many other organizations that provide related programs and services in Portland.
The Portland Housing Center works one-on-one with first-time home buyers to assist them with the home buying process. We provide education, counseling, and financial services to people from a variety of income levels. Our services promote the ability to access affordable and stable home ownership opportunities in the Portland Metropolitan area. In the past three years the Portland Housing Center has helped more than 2,000 families purchase their first home.

Since 1999, Proud Ground, formerly Portland Community Land Trust, has provided affordable homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income first-time homebuyers. Working with community partners, lenders, builders and others, Proud Ground prepares families and individuals for homeownership; helps them purchase existing homes; builds new affordable homes; offers homeowners tools to be successful; and manages transactions to keep homes affordable for future income-qualified, first-time homebuyers. Homeowners gain equity and stability, and Portland gains homes that will be affordable for generations to come.
