Bike to Swan Island? Yikes! Can I do it safely?
YES, you can!
Bike lanes on Interstate Avenue, Denver Avenue, Willamette Boulevard and Greeley Avenue will get you to Going Street, Swan Island’s main access road.
The Going Street sidewalk provides bike/walk access to Swan Island. Much of the sidewalk is separated from traffic by trees and is 10′ wide at the Going Street bridge. Sidewalk links to sidewalks and crossings include Basin Avenue & Wygant, the Greeley ramp to Going Street and signalized crossing at Going and Port Center Way.
- We recommend use of the sidewalk on Going Street and the Swan Island roadway network. Please be alert for pedestrians and vehicles turning in and out of driveways.
- Remember, bikes are permitted on TriMet buses and MAX trains!
- Select Car2Go vehicles and all transit serving Swan Island are equipped with bike racks (Contact us if you’d like some pointers regarding TriMet’s bike racks)
